The Elaphiti Islands (Elaphite Islands, or Deer Islands) are a beautiful archipelago located northwest of Dubrovnik. Although there are no beaches or any kind of organized tourist infrastructure on the islands, they are very popular with visitors because it is a perfect place to enjoy the tranquility, the crystal clear sea and the beautiful nature.
They are accessible from Dubrovnik by ferry, and tours typically take about two hours and cover three inhabited islands. The outward journey is usually made at 9:00 a.m., and the return trip around 5:00 p.m., and several companies offer this service at prices ranging between 18 kuna (about 3 euros) and 150 kuna (about 20 euros).
Each island is unique: Lopud is famous for its sandy beaches, Šipan is covered with olive groves, and Koločep is a paradise for divers.
