The island of Mljet is located in a specific area of the Adriatic, covered with pine forests and mixed forests. It is characterized by two salt lakes, one of them connected to the sea. In the north stretch white pebble beaches and cliffs that plunge into the sea.
Its rich biodiversity is due to the presence of many endemic animal species that reside here. The island, which was considered since ancient times as the crater of a submerged volcano and therefore considered as an island with healing effects.
The island also has an intense love story that has Ulysses and Calypso as protagonists; it is said that it was here that Ulysses spent seven long years dominated by the charms of the nymph Calypso, in fact it is believed that the mythical island of Ogygia is Mljet.
